Burley’s rise to the ANZ Premiership has been about taking opportunities, and the former training partner has certainly done that over the past two years. She was just that - a training partner - back in 2018, earned playing time after being an injury replacement player last year and then winning a full contract in 2020. The 181cm defender is hard to move, particularly when going for aerial balls, and her work over the past two years caught the eye of Silver Ferns selectors as Burley was added to the Development squad.
